Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM)

Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) is a specialized manual therapy technique that uses ergonomically designed stainless steel instruments to assess and treat muscles, tendons, ligaments, and connective tissue.

Over time, repetitive stress, injuries, surgery, or prolonged inactivity can lead to tissue restrictions, scar tissue, and decreased mobility. IASTM helps identify these restrictions while stimulating the body's natural healing response. The controlled pressure applied with the instruments can help improve tissue mobility, reduce muscle tension, decrease pain, and restore normal movement.

Treatment is always tailored to your comfort level and is often combined with stretching and exercise to maximize your results.

IASTM is commonly used for both acute and chronic conditions and can be an effective addition to rehabilitation programs.

Common conditions treated include:

  • Tennis elbow

  • Golfer's elbow

  • Plantar fasciitis

  • Achilles tendinopathy

  • Rotator cuff injuries

  • IT band syndrome

  • Muscle strains

  • Scar tissue restrictions

  • Chronic muscle tightness
